U.S. Senator Alfonse D'Amato

"Senator Al", from Long Island, New York, maintains communication with the STONEWALL Veterans' Association ("S.V.A.") through the S.V.A.'s outreach via mail, fax and e-mail as well as through mutual colleagues and political friends.  The Senator remains admirable of the S.V.A. organization.  Former Mayor Ed Koch -- the Honorary Male Chairperson of the S.V.A. -- and Senator Al have a weekly political segment on New York 1 News television (Channel 1 in New York City).  The lively political show is appropriately entitled "Inside City Politics".  Their segment is cleverly called "The Wise Guys".  Each week they have a third person, frequently former New York City Council Speaker Peter Vallone, Sr., join them as the guest "Wise Guy".  They discuss and analyze New York political events and politicians of the day.  The tell-it-like-it-is and interesting segment airs every Tuesday evening @ 7 p.m. and encores @ 10 p.m.  Update (2013):  Since the passing earlier this year of Senator Al's truly great ally and longtime friend, Ed Koch, the third "Wise Guy" has been rotated.

Antoinette "Mama" D'Amato Dies at 99!

'Mama' Antoinette D'Amato ("ADA") had the "Spirit of Stonewall" long before Stonewall!  She stood up and spoke her mind!  Many members of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association, including Williamson Henderson, Leigh McManus, Kevin Baxter, Roger Fulop and Joey Destio, knew Al D'Amato's mother Antoinette from her son's campaigns in Long Island starting in Nassau County in 1976 and 1978 for Hempstead Town Supervisor and in 1980, 1988, 1992 and 1998 for U.S. Senator from New York.  With Mama D'Amato's well-publicized public appearance help and her Italian cooking recipes, 'Sonny Boy' Al won all the campaigns!  Read the full story on ADA at:
