Herman Carl McCall, Jr.

Herman Carl McCall, Jr., was finally and unanimously expelled from the S.V.A. as an "Honorary Member" in September 2002 (pre-Primary Election) as a result of his falsely promising for years and through several (mostly embarrassed) staff members and (mostly unembarrassed) campaign crew and personally via return phone calls to S.V.A. Treasurer Terri Van Dyke and in person on multiple occasions to various S.V.A. officials -- spanning four years -- to be a "Crystal Sponsor".  Herman defrauded the duped, non-profit S.V.A. organization into promoting him as an "honorary member".  In reality, "Mr. ReCall" was a dishonorary non-sponsor.  Shame on him!  Meetings with the elected officers of the S.V.A. were pledged over and over again through Carl and at least a dozen of his employees (we have their names, even the coincidental "Donna Reed") over a few years.  Being aware of HCM's stringing on and on though thinly-veiled lies, even they were embarrassed!  The elusive 'meeting' was put off and delayed and rescheduled and postponed.  Yet, Herman Junior's subsequent campaign ads in Gay newspapers falsely declared him to be "Someone you can trust" and   "Someone who keeps their promises."  Double deception and double shame on him!!   Unfortunately, the S.V.A. promoted Mr. McCall for four long years -- and for free!  Shame on us!  Although Carl constantly cried and whined for "more money, more money, more money" for him -- he even had an embarrassing pissing match with the already overly-generous Democratic National Committee -- the reality is that Herman and his wrecking crew raised and spent over $16 million dollars!  The D.N.C. is not fiscally irresponsible nor stupid and rightfully wasn't gonna wastefully pump more gold water into an obviously sinking ship.  But, nonethesless, still not a promised penny from "Comptroller" Carl for the S.V.A.  Adding insult to injury, Mr. McCall spent approximately $3,000 to rent a float to promote himself for a few hours in "our" New York City Gay Pride Parade plus about $1,000 in fees and other related Gay parade expenses, yet failed to keep his long-standing commitment to the S.V.A.  Shame on him!  Despite his scandalous penchant for personally scripting at least 61 unethical, gross "conflict of interest" solicitation letters (with the implicit threat of repercussions) on government stationery begging for jobs -- for relatives, friends of relatives, friends, friends of friends, relatives of friends, not-so-friendly friends, et al., etc. -- the S.V.A. could not get one 'promised' legitimate letter from Carl, though he pledged to do so dozens of times for over two years since his last.  Shame on him!  Yet, HCM relentlessly courted the Gay community, Gay support, Gay money, Gay endorsements, Gay vote!  "Hello, Herman", the S.V.A. helped -- to say the understated least -- to create and build the Gay vote!!  In nearly 34 years, "Herman Carl McCall" is the first "honorary member" to be 86'd.  He was easily replaced by someone whom you can trust, tells the truth and is an actual S.V.A. sponsor -- and can actually write and mail a promised letter -- Congressmember Charles Rangel.
