   =spelling "G" lesson=

Spell "Gay" with a capital "G".  We are a people, too!
German... Grecian... Guamanian... Gorgonzolan... Gay!
This clear, correct, common sense and respectful concept
was inaugurated exclusively by Williamson L. Henderson V
when he spelled "Gay" with a capital "G" in the Stonewall Era
and, officially, when he founded Proofreaders Unlimited in 1981.
Williamson has regularly promoted this correct Gay people spelling!
"Gay" spelling has been on everything that the S.V.A. has published.
Quoting WLH:  "The Gay community is typically slow to catch on
to almost anything, even when it is read to them in black and white.
The S.V.A. has spelled "Gay" long before our website began in 1998.
Respect for a person or a people starts by spelling their name correct!"

Williamson L. Henderson (WLH) is the 5th and today is the 5th!  If you can dream of a Gay who has done more and longer for the Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgender (GLBT) community in New York City, we can't!  WLH is the "Spirit of Stonewall"!  In the NYC Gayborhood, some attempt to hijack what Williamson created, built and maintains.  As a Stonewall song sings:  "Ain't nothing like the real thing"!  For more WLH 411, visit www.STONEWALLvets.org/WilliamsonHenderson.htm.  To attend the Dutch-style, Irish-American birthday dinner at a German restaurant, call AnDre C at (212) 6-27-1969.

Monday, October 5 -- FORMER NYC COUNCILWOMAN MIRIAM FRIEDLANDER DIES

Former NYC Councilwoman Miriam S. Friedlander (serving 1973 to 2001) from Manhattan's Second District (East Village, Gramercy Park, Lower East Side) -- succeded in office by all Gays namely the late Antonio M. Pagan, NYCHA commissioner Margarita Lopez and current Rosie Mendez -- was a four-decade supporter of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association.  Miriam continued as a respected presence on the political scene and an active member of Village Independent Democrats until she died.  Born in April of 1914 in Pittsburgh, her family moved to New York City not to the Lower East Side but to The Bronx!  The East Village was later for Miriam who lived politically and passionately until 95!

Thursday, October 1, 2009 -- GAY PEOPLE for NYC MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG

A Gay-la party of Gays in favor of Michael R. Bloomberg for re-election as the Mayor of New York City happens tonight!  Openly-Gay actress Cherry Jones is the host.  The S.V.A. is, of course, invited.  The S.V.A. was the only GLBT group in full favor and actually supportive of Michael Bloomberg vs. Marc 'Gang' Green for Mayor in 2001, of which the Mayor is aware and appreciative.  The S.V.A. is represented by Williamson Henderson and posse plus independent SVA-er Dr. Gil Horowitz.  The event is at the marvelous City Winery at 200 Varick Street between Spring Street and Van Dam Street in the SoHo section of Manhattan.  Special Gay guest is legendary tennisian Billie Jean King, plus 1,000+ regular Gay guests.  Party chimes @ 6 p.m.  For more 411, visit:  www.MikeBloomberg2009.com.

Tuesday, September 29 (eve)-- ELECTION NIGHT "RUN-AWAY" VICTORY PARTIES

NYC Councilman Bill de Blasio will be elected the next NYC Public Advocate!  How do we know?  Besides a hundred other reasons, New Yorkers prefer a liker of people not a hater!  Confirmed public officials include current NYC Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum, (who endorsed BDB as her successor), U.S. Congressmember Yvette Clarkecurrent NYC Comptroller Bill Thompson, NYS Senators Eric Schneiderman and Daniel Squadron, NYS Assemblymembers Jonathan BingBrian Kavanaugh and Micah Kellner and NYC Councilmembers Jo-el Rivera (Bronx), Dan Garodnick, Jessica LappinMelissa Viverito, Gale Brewer and Rosie Mendez plus former Councilmember Una Clarke (Brooklyn) and Councilmember-elect Margaret Chin (Manhattan/1st District) and Council candidate Yetta Kurland in addition to many other public officials such as NYC borough presidents!  The S.V.A. is headed up by Williamson with Rogers Hunt and Ruthybird plus Youth-4-SVA's AnDre Christie.  PRIDE Dems is led by Marlon Hunter.  Mr. Bill's party blasts off @ 9 p.m. at the well-staged Union Square Club at 200 Park Avenue South between East 17th and 18th Streets in Manhattan, New York.

Party theme song:  "Don't Mess With Bill", a Stonewall song by The Marvelettes (penned by Smokey)

In the other exciting Primary Run-Off Election contest, New York City Councilman John C. Liu -- another longtime S.V.A. supporter and annual guest speaker -- has the next Comptroller position wrapped up!  "J-Lu" will make NYC history again, this time as the first Asian-American citywide elected official!  He is the first Asian NYC Councilmember!  Planned guests include former NYC Mayor David Dinkins, current NYC Comptroller Bill Thompson, NYS Assemblymembers Sheldon Silver and Mark Weprin, former NYC Comptroller candidate David Weprin and NYC Council-elects Margaret Chin and Ydanis Rodriguez (both Manhattan) and Jumaane Williams (Brooklyn).  This S.V.A. contingency (different from the other party) consists of Leigh McManus and his B/F Benson, (Mr.) Bill Salzman, (Mrs.) Mary Twist, (Dr.) Gil Horowitz and Brooke Lynn at this winner's event.  PRIDE Democrats contingency is hadassah-ed by Steven Gradman.  The exciting "J-Lu" Victory Party sparks @ 8 p.m. at the United Federation of Teachers ("UFT") headquarters at 52 Broadway in Lower Manhattan, N.Y.

Tuesday, September 29 (day)  -- "RUN-OFF" ELECTION in NEW YORK CITY:  VOTE!!

As the S.V.A. politicos predicted at the start of 2009, there will be two citywide "run-off" elections in the NYC Public Advocate and NYC Comptroller contests.  No candidate in those 4-way races achieved the required 40% in voter percentage.  The choice for NYC Public Advocate is accomplished, accommodating and accessible (and that's just the "a"'s) NYC Councilman Bill de Blasio.  The choices for Comptroller are S.V.A. supporter Councilman John Liu ("J-Lu") and non-supporter David Yassky.  In fact, J-Lu was at S.V.A. Stonewall-40 events; the Yassy was not!  It concerns SVA-ers and their supporters who is elected.  For Public Advocate, the SW-Vetz do not want "The Hater" (a.k.a. Marc 'Gang' Green) failed candidate of yesteryear, who swore he'd never again be a candidate!  Let's make him keep that lie!  'Gang' Green is exclusionary and useless to the purposeful S.V.A.  Voting in the "run-off" election in New York City is all day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday, September 27 -- BROADWAY CARES 23rd ANNUAL FLEA MARKET

*

filename:  BC/EFA_Flea-Market_2009

This wonderful and fun fund-raising event for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS is the 23rd!  The resourceful flea market, silent auction, celebrity tables and grand auction start happening @ 10 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m.  Due to predicted stormy weather of winds and rains, the event is relocated from outdoor Shubert Alley to indoor Roseland Arena at 249 West 52 Street (between Seventh and Eighth Avenues) in Midtown Manhattan.  For more 411, visit BC/EFA's website at:  www.BroadwayCares.org.

Saturday, September 26 -- S.V.A. MONTHLY MEETING in the STREET

SVA Meeting Notice September 2009

Once a year, the STONEWALL V.A. appropriately holds its meeting in the street!  Think about it.  That's technically where we started.  Today, the S.V.A. meeting is at the "Stonewall Streetfair" on Greenwich Avenue.  Tables and chairs for S.V.A. reps and visitors will be set-up in the street in front of the Greenwich School playground at Perry Street.  Invited political guests will include the Comptroller and Public Advoacte candidates supportive of the S.V.A.  There will be a special "Stonewall Duncheon" at the scene.  Meeting happens as always on the last Saturday of the month @ 4:15 p.m. -- "out"-doors!

Saturday, September 26 -- STREETFAIR of the STONEWALL VETERANS' ASSOCIATION

Unintended thanks to the local paper The Villager, no New York City streetfair received more pre-approval publicity than the S.V.A.'s Stonewall Streetfair ("SSS").  This streetfair on New York City's third Gayest street, Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan, stretches five blocks from Seventh Avenue intersecting with Perry Street and Charles Street and crossing West 10 Street and Christopher Street continuing to Avenue of the Americas in Greenwich Village.  On display to view and for photo-ops is the famous blue 1969 Cadillac "Stonewall Car".  The S.V.A. has its own information table with 411 about the S.V.A. and the opportunity for the Greenwich Village community, and beyond, to become an S.V.A. supporter or business advertiser.  Our advertising actually works!  Supportive GLBT organizations may complete an application to the S.V.A. for free display space at this event.  The streetfair opens @ 11 a.m. and continues through 7 p.m.  For more 411, contact Jeremiah at (212) 998-1760.  To reserve display space, call AnDre C at the S.V.A. at (212) 6-27-1969.

Wednesday, September 23 -- PRIDE DEMS ANNOUNCES NYC 'RUN-OFF' ENDORSEMENTS

PRIDE Democrats, the New York City-wide Gay and friends political club, announced their voted choices for the Run-Off Election:  Councilman Bill de Blasio for Public Advocate and Councilman John C. Liu for NYC Comptroller.  Both candidates achieved the highest amount of votes in their contests two weeks ago in the Primary Election.  PRIDE predicts a landslide victory for both SVA supporters!!

Tuesday, September 22 -- 60-ish BIRTHDAY of SVA's CHAPLAIN REV. MAGORA KENNEDY

Wednesday, September 16 -- PROUD PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS

Members and regular supporters of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association  had both of their two favorite citywide candidates rise to the top of the pack:  Bill de Blasio for Public Advocate and John C. Liu for NYC Comptroller.  Both gentlemen are longtime and active supporters of the S.V.A.  Both Mr. De Blasio and Mr. Liu were at "Stonewall-40" events sponsored by the S.V.A.  In both political contests, the leader will be in a citywide run-off election with the second highest scoring opponent in two weeks.  The S.V.A. is particularly proud of soon to be ridding the City Council of 5 unworthy members!!!!!  SVA-ers strategized and actively helped to get VID of them!

Tuesday, September 15 (evening) -- STONEWALL VETZ INVITED to PARTIES!

SVA-ers have been invited to several candidates' Primary Night parties.  Those include (but not limited to) Michael BloombergDavid Weprin, Norman Siegel, Melissa Viverito, Pete Gleason and Yetta Kurland in Manhattan and Bill de Blasio, Ken Diamondstone and Josh Skaller in Brooklyn plus Fernando Cabrera in The Bronx.  Gee, none of the openly-Gay candidates in Queens invited us?  The S.V.A. will culminate the exciting evening by being with (win, lose or draw) Manhattan District Attorney candidate Leslie C. Snyder and her friends and family at Ballroom "B" at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at Grand Central in Midtown!  To confirm any of the events, call the S.V.A.'s AnDre C at (212) 6-27-1969.

Tuesday, September 15 -- PRIMARY ELECTION DAY -- LISTEN to PRIDE DEMOCRATS

In New York City, where the STONEWALL Veterans' Association is headquartered, there are two really important citywide political contests namely Comptroller and Public Advocate.  There are several significant Council races throughout the City namely the 1st, 3rd, 25th, 33rd and 39th -- all of which have Gay candidates!  Although the S.V.A. is not a political group, it has enough political clout to beat the band!  It is important that no creep (it rhymes with Goya) or hater (known as "Gang Green") gets into office!  Yes, SVA-ers speak out -- that's how the Stonewall Rebelliion started.  For political endorsements, the S.V.A. looks to PRIDE at
www.PRIDEdemocrats.info.  Polls are open from 6 to 9!

Native New Yorker, from Long Island, Ellie Greenwich while hospitalized for pneumonia at St. Luke's Hospital in Manhattan, died of a heart attack at age 68.  Everybody knows Ellie's songs!  Who doesn't know "Leader Of The Pack"?  Besides being a girl group singer herself with The Jivettes and The Raindrops, Ellie wrote some of the most popular non-Motown girl group songs:  "Be My Baby" and "Baby, I Love You" by The Ronettes; "Today I Met The Boy I'm Gonna Marry" and "Wait Til My Bobby Gets Home" by Darlene Love; besides "Leader Of The Pack", also "Out In The Streets" and "The Train From Kansas City" by The Shangri-Las; and "Maybe I Know" and "(Isn't That The) Look Of Love" by Lesley Gore; "And Then He Kissed Me" and "Da Doo Ron Ron" by The Crystals.  How about "Chapel Of Love" by The Dixie Cups?!  The biggest song at The Stonewall Club that Ellie wrote was Tina Turner's monumental "River Deep, Mountain High"!

Tuesday, Augurt 25 -- U.S. SENATOR EDWARD M. KENNEDY DIES at 77

U.S. Senator Edward Moore Kennedy, the determined and enduring brother of U.S. President John F. Kennedy and U.S. Senator from New York Robert F. Kennedy, died from cancer in Massachusetts at the age of 77.  He was the third-longest serving senator in U.S. history since Senator Kennedy was elected in 1962 to today.  He was the second longest-serving Senator in the current 111th Congress.  New York overwhelmingly voted for Ted Kennedy to be the 1980 Democratic nominee for President -- at Madison Square Garden in New York City -- but nationally he, unfortunately, did not win causing Democrats to lose the presidential election that year.  Senator Kennedy has been clear in his support for Gay rights.  Just last year, Senator Ted Kennedy continued history-making with his being the keynote speaker at another Senator's presidential campaign announcement.  The major and primary endorsement of Ted for Barack started the tables turning.  (Sadly, due to the again bad judgment of un-elected New York Governor D.A. Paterson, for virtually the first time in nearly sixty years since 1952, in the U.S. Senate there is no Kennedy!)

Monday, August 17 -- POLITICAL DEBATE for NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL FIRST DISTRICT

Pete J. Gleason, the S.V.A. supporter and appreciater is joined in a local political debate for the N.Y.C. First Council District.  It is a toss-up whether incumbered Alan "Gersy" Gerson (who was shotgunned off the ballot) is currently 'on/off' the ballot and if 'off' or 'on', will it remain?  Whatever the status, it is likely under appeal.  The S.V.A. does not want four more years of the eight years of nothingness from Gersy for our purposes, programs, members and goals.  Gersy is only a candidate because he voted to extend his own job (term) for four more years!  There are also two qualified openly-Asian candidates namely the nice Margaret Chin and the pleasnt Jin "P.J." Kin.  Representing the S.V.A. front and center is Williamson Henderson and rep'ing the Youth-4-SVA is AnDre Christie. Showdown is at Pace University.  Entrance for the spacious, designer Multi-Purpose Room at One Pace Plaza is on Spruce Street near Gold Street.  Best subways are the #2 and #3 to the Park Place/Broadway station; "A" or "C" to Fulton/Nassau Streets and the #4, #5 or #6 to Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall station.  Debate is sponsored by the Downtown Express newspaper.  Doors open @ 6:30 p.m.  The debate triggers @ 7 p.m.  More 411?  See Pace University website:  www.PaceU.edu/info+direx.

Friday, August 14 -- BROOKLYN COUNCIL CANDIDATE CONFERENCE with S.V.A.

Ken Diamondstone is the experienced, professional and openly-Gay candidate for the 33rd District in the Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope areas and zigzaging to Greenpoint and parts of Williamsburg.  The comprehensive conference and consultation is @ 6 p.m. at a NUNYA location.  Representing the S.V.A. are Williamson Henderson and AnDre C.  There is an after-conference dinner and drinks at La Traviata, an atmospheric and diverse Italian Restaurant on Montague Street in B-Heights @ 10 p.m.

Thursday, August 13 -- GAY GAL DEBATE:  S.V.A. SUPPORTA YETTA vs. SVA IGNORA C/Q

This political game show "Showdown at The Hodown" has two openly-Gay (with a capital "G") female contestants -- Yetta Kurland versus Qwiss Qwinn -- vying for Councilperson of the New York City 3rd Council District.  The unique district is comprised of the greatly Gay areas of Greenwich Village, Chelsea and Clinton.  The ultimate prize winner likely will be tipped tonight!  Location is at a New York University facility at 19 West Fourth Street (a.k.a. Washington Square South) between Greene Street and Mercer Street in Central Greenwich Village.  SVA reporter Vito Abzuzzoluccione scoops that there will be protestors with signs against (and we are quoting) "Miss Gay Piggy" referring to Christine Q's slush funds for bogus groups (but not the S.V.A.) and "Democrat betrayer" with her refusal to support the upcoming three citywide Democrat candidates.  Swinging doors open up @ 6:30 p.m.  SVA investigator Bruno Tomasi reports that the donated-by-NYU room is too small and will be frustrating for attendees and shutting out many others.  Dust-up swirls in small room 101 @ 7 p.m.  Debate is sponsored by The Villager (a local newspaper).  Public Advocate candidate Norman Siegel will thoughtfully, bravely and wisely be on the scene outfront to prevent any Gay rumbles and to negotiate any verbal battles.  Representing the S.V.A. is Williamson Henderson and his posse.  The winner of tonight's debate will be driven with her girlfriend to any NYC location of her woman's right to choose in the classic Stonewall convcrtible (if ony it were pink) chauffeured by the S.V.A.'s assistant AnDre Christie.  On the other hand, how interesting that today's happening is on the "13th":  Who will be blue "Miss Un-lucky"?

Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of the City of New York, graciously hosts this annual "Mayor's Awards in Honor of the Americans with Disabilities Act".  The STONEWALL Veterans' Association has participated in this event several years recognizing the physical limitations and special concerns of the disabled.  S.V.A. has focused on the disabled as many of its members became disabled in various ways in the last dozen or so years.  The S.V.A. is a group that regularly helps the disabled, particularly, with food-shopping, medical appointments and transportation.  This event appreciates such volunteer organizations.  Confirmed to reprersent the S.V.A. are Williamson, Babsala, Joan Carol "JC" Sobel, Petie Lynard and Rogers Hunt plus the S.V.A.'s assistant AnDre Christie (a former home attendant to disabled persons).  Special S.V.A. guests include Geoffrey A. Davis, Director of the JED Foundation and Jim Pinkenberg, S.V.A. supporter and owner of Vada Salon.  The live jazz music starts smokin' and the summertime barbeque sizzlin' @ 5 p.m.  (This special mayoral happening is by invitation only.}

Monday, August 10 -- POST-STONEWALL SONGSTRESS TEENA MARIE CONCERT

The enthusiastic S.V.A. contingency enjoys the post-Stonewall songs and timeless sounds of one of Motown's few white female vocalists, Teena Marie.  She was too young to have songs at The Stonewall but Teena has the "Spirit of Stonewall" in her music and vibes.  You can bet the bottom line that Teena is performing her #1 "I Need Your Lovin' (It's The Bottom Line)", "Behind The Groove", "Square Biz", "Fix It", "Lovergirl", "Ooh La La La", "Work It", her 2006 return hit "Ooh Wee" and many more!  Sponsor is New York City's "Martin Luther King Concert Series".  Come to Wingate Field opposite Kings County Hospital between Rutland and Winthrop Streets in Brooklyn.  Showtime is @ 7:30 p.m.  If attending with the S.V.A., call the S.V.A.'s AnDre C at (212) 6-27-1969.  For concert 411, see:  www.BrooklynConcerts.com/TeenaMarie.htm.

Saturday, August 8 -- STONEWALL SUMMER SUPPER

Summertime supper and drinks remembering the Stonewall Summer of 1969 precisely 40 years ago!!!! Williamson and AnDre Christie, Chelsea's Storme DeLarverie, Long Island Leigh McManus and his boyfriend Benson and special guests such as Susan Olmetti the abstract artist are confirmed.  Prior to the eatery, several in the group are stopping by with contributions, contacts and cheer at the Yetta Kurland for Council Campaign Headquarters.  Rather than the Village Gay crosstown bus, several are first cruising down the entire length of Christopher Street to Yetta's on West Street in the blue (isn't it pink) Stonewall convertible with who driving?  No, not a volunteer from HOP (they wish) -- but the authorized (and insured) driver AnDre!  Supper is at The Village Den on good old Gay ole Greenwich Avenue @ 8 p.m.  On display for all to see:  the 1969 Stonewall Cadillac!

Monday, August 3 -- THE VILLAGER (NEWSPAPER):  "WILLIAMSON DOES IT AGAIN"

The "it" that Williamson did, to which The Villager cleverly refers, is "win"!  To be maybe continued....

Saturday, August 1, 2009 -- STOP! THE VIOLENCE MARCH in BROOKLYN

This 16th annual "Love Yourself / Stop! The Violence March" was originated by the late New York City Councilman James E. "Jed" Davis and his brother Geoffrey.  Since Jed's tragic death in JUuly 2003, most sadly from gun violence, the anti-violence march is led by Jed's brother Geoffrey A. Davis, who is chairman of the JED Foundation.  In Brooklyn, the Stop! The Violence March line-up is on Fulton Street between Nostrand Avenue and New York Avenue.  Closest subway is the "A" train to Nostrand Avenue Station.  The march kicks off @ 11 a.m.  For more 411, call the JED Foundation at (347) 853-9971.

July 2009 -- S.V.A. WEBSITE with BUSIEST MONTH:  OVER ONE MILLION VISITS

There were over one million-plus 'verified' (via HTML Systems) visits to the STONEWALL V.A. for the month of July 2009 making it the busiest month ever in S.V.A. history!  The precise amount of 'verified' visits was a whopping 1,070,308!  These are visitors do so for information -- not for discount coupons or replays of car crashes.  The S.V.A. website is a unique source of multiple information.

Friday, July 31 -- BROOKLYN CONCERT SERIES:  MISS CONNIE FRANCIS

One of the greatest female vocalists of all time is Connie Francis.  This evening, Connie sings several of her popular songs including one that was symbolic at the original Stonewall Club.  These songs include:  "Who's Sorry Now", "Stupid Cupid", "My Heart Has A Mind Of Its Own", "Lipstick On Your Collar", "Everybody's Somebody's Fool", "Among My Souveniers", "V-a-c-a-t-i-o-n", "Don't Break The Heart That Loves You", "Follow The Boys" (from the Connie Francis movie) and the highly emotional "Mama" plus her worlwide classic Gay theme song "Where The Boys Are" from the movie of the same name.  It was the last song played each night at The Stonewall.  The #1 boy-yearning ballad "WTBA" has the hopeful refrain "someone waits for me".
Connie introduces "Where The Boys Are" as the Gay national anthem!  For 411, visit:  www.BrooklynConcerts.com.  Outdoor showtime sings  @ 8 p.m.

For more 411 on Miss Connie Francis and her throngs of supporters in the national Gay community, visit:  www.EdgeBoston.com/index.entertainment=Connie.Francis
.  One of Connie's well-known clever quips is:  "I don't skirt around issues".  Regarding Gay people:  "I have Gay fans in New York.  I have Gay fans in San Francisco.  I have Gay fans everywhere!"  The complete songlist for Connie's recent concert is now posted at:  www.STONEWALLvets.org/songsofStonewall-5.htm

Thursday, July 30 -- STONEWALL SUPERSTARS CONCERT:  FRANKIE VALLI & HIS JERSEY BOYS

Look for Frankie Valli & His New Jersey Boys (hot 'n' high-steppin') to sing several big hit songs that were also popular at the original Stonewall Club.  These songs include:  "Let's Hang On", "Working My Way Back To You", "Don't Worry About Me", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Tell It To The Rain", "Beggin'" and "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" plus the #1 solo smash "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You".  This seaside concert series in Brooklyn started in 1978 when Frankie V had the #1 megahit "Grease"!  Confirmed for the S.V.A. contingency are Williamson, Brooke Lynn, Rogers Hunt, Ruthybird and AnDre Christie.  Outdoor showtime sounds off @ 8 p.m.  The NYC trains are the "D" to the Stillwell Avenue / Coney Island Station or the "F' or "Q" to the West 8th Street / N.Y. Aquarium Station.  Visit www.BrooklynConcerts.com for car directions and upcoming concerts.  To see the new  "FVFS Concert Songlist", visit:  www.STONEWALLvets.org/songsofStonewall-4.htm

Wednesday, July 29 -- DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP'S SUMMER BASH PARTY

The Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century Club ("DL-21-C") hosts its annual "Summer Bash Political Party".  Special guests include the current NYS Governor David Paterson, NYS Assemblymember Brian Kavanaugh, NYC Councilman David Yassky and City Council First District candidate Pete Gleason.  Hot political topic is the NYC Board of Elections dumping Alan "Gersy" Gerson for fraudulent petitions, including multiple changes after signing and submission, from the election ballot for the First Councilmatic District.  Representing the S.V.A. on a predicted stormy weather night is Williamson Henderson and AnDre Christie (who will be handing out the new true blue S.V.A. business cards).  Hosting the festivities is DL-21C's bubbly Elizabeth Caputo.  This year's fun party is at the atmopheric Eden Nightclub at 268 West 47 Street off Eighth Avenue in Clinton, Manhattan from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.  Admission:  $10 (with a cash bar).  Bottoms up!

Tuesday, July 28 -- S.V.A. HUGE RECORD-BREAKER:  ONE MILLION IN ONE MONTH

That kind of populartity for a non-profit and unfunded and especially Gay organization is unheard of just as is the legendary STONEWALL Veterans' Association and its history-making members.. The  S.V.A. website is an informative, well-written, unique and user-friendly source of Gay 411, and so much more, throughout the World.  Until today, this was a first when the S.V.A. website's verified visits hit one million in one month!

Monday, July 27 -- WILLIAMSON HENDERSON INTERVIEWED by THE VILLAGER

Having been interviewed spanning forty-plus years by literally every major newspaper in New York State as well as virtually every medium-sized New York City and Quad-State area paper, plus endless  newspapers and magazines from several U.S. states and periodicals from dozens of countries, one can  imagine how exciting it is for Williamson Henderson to finally grant -- after nearly a deserved decade -- a telephone interview to the local Greenwich Village paper, The Villager.  Let's see what they do with this opportunity?  Most people are skeptical.  We will report and act accordingly!  Because the subject is supposedly the 'victory' of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association's recent overwhelmingly winning the elcction-style vote (49 to 1) approval from Community Board #2 for S.V.A.'s annual strreetfair, Williamson agreed to the questioning on behalf of the S.V.A.  Considering that the S.V.A. is the only streetfair-sponsoring organization whose members' past actions and continuous outreach result in netting the State and City of New York millions and millions of dollars each and every year, the local NYC Community Board should not begrudge the non-profit and deserving group of what comparatively amounts to birdseed.  While The Villager profusely congratulated WLH and the S.V.A. for its win (we have it on voice mail), the questions soon changed themes to "What name did you use (in 1969) at Stonewall?"  Again, let's read what The Villager reports with the S.V.A. streetfair win!

Saturday, July 25 -- MONTHLY MEETING of the S.V.A.

This is the first meeting of the new S.V.A. season and fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th).  Gil Horowitz gives a report on the positive Commuity Board 2 general meeting the other evening.  Storme DeLarverie provides the intersting social report on the recent Hotel Chelsea Art Show and its Stonewall tribute.  The meeting is held monthly at the New York GLBT Center at 212 West 13 Street off Seventh Avenue and Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan.  The talk-up starts @ 4:15 p.m. with several items of discussion until 6 p.m.  To add items to the printed agenda, call AnDre C in advance at (212) 6-27-1969.

Thursday, July 23 (evening) -- COMMUNITY BOARD 2 MEETING

Included in this meeting is the recommendation by the Street Activity Committee ("SAC") to 'approve' the STONEWALL Veterans' Association's much-debated application for the lingering renewal of our streetfair.  Appearing, simply to appear, on behalf of the S.V.A. are Williamson Henderson, Rogers Hunt and AnDre Christie (who will also distribute S.V.A. meeting flyers).  Speaking on behalf of the S.V.A. is member and Greenwich Village resident Dr. Gil Horowitz.  The community meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Cronin Auditorium on West 12 Street off Seventh Avenue in St. Vincent's Hospital.

Thursday, July 23 -- COUNCILMAN JAMES E. "JED" DAVIS:  6 YEARS of LOSS

As a current and very active Coumcilman, Jed Davis from Brooklyn needlessly lost his politically promising and exciting life at the hands of a crazed and obsessed gunman on July 23, 2003.  This cold-blooded murder actually occurred inside of New York City Hall on the balcony of the chamber.  It was national breaking-news interrupting all television shows as the living nightmare unfolded.  NYC lost one of its finest councilmembers ever!  The S.V.A. lost an Honorary Member and a fervent supporter and friend.  Jed continues to be greatly missed in many ways.

Wednesday, July 22 -- THE VILLAGER REPORTS MORE on S.V.A. STREETFAIR HEARINGS

The
Villager local Greenwich Village newspaper (as most of our readers would not know), owned by Community Media, continues its sudden interest and reporting on the STONEWALL Veterans' Association and its deeply dissected streetfair renewal application!  But, in their supposed interest, rather than interview credible current members of the Community Board's Street Activity Committee, they dug up an old 'chair' who was 86'd from the committee and 86'd from the entire board two years ago!  Said non-personna character, considered by many to be an imbecile at the least and by others as a  homophobe, describes the famous "Stonewall Car" as "Williamson's pink Cadillac".  This is despite the fact that he knows the car is blue and owned by the S.V.A.  He falsely claims that the S.V.A. uses streetfair funds for the car!  Gee, the car has not had a repair since the last Century!  Morover, The Villager knows those facts yet nonetheless publish falsities.  What type of journalism is that?

Monday, July 20 -- 40 YEARS of STONEWALL SONGS:  THE MARVELETTES

      Marvelettes Greatest Hits
The "Songs of The Stonewall" ("SOTS") -- are having a tremendous surge in popularity and interest since Gay Pride Month and the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion.  "SOTS" are the songs that were in the jukebox of the original Stonewall Club in the late 1960s.  This summer, commemorating "SW-40", the S.V.A. is expanding various webfiles on "SOTS".  The first group is The Marvelettes of Motown.  Several original Marvelettes album covers have now been added to their S.V.A. webfile.  The Stonewall song on the album cover above is "Don't Mess With Bill".  Over 100 worldwide Gay Pride committees contacted the S.V.A. to also thank us for the "Songs of the Stonewall".  Endless "SOTS" were played in Gay parades and at Gay festivals throughout the World.  For interesting 411 and compelling pix on The Marvelettes, see:  www.STONEWALLvets.org/songsofStonewall-8.htm.

Friday, July 17 -- DRUNCAN OZBURN of NYC GAYRAGPAPER STILL on the LOOSE

Druncan
"Ozburn" Osborne of the Gay-Rag-Paper (also known as "Gay City News and its street name "Gay Shity News") continues his personal attack mode of slander, sleaze, slime, scum and lies.  Druncan does it like a has-been, dumped, ex-wannabe, spurned spouse or a disgruntled employee!  Druncan obviously did not learn his journalistic or ethics lessons from post-SW-30.  Back then, he caused the already weary Gayragpaper -- then known as "LGBT New York" before it crash-burned and went bankrupt.  Besides endless creditors, the Gayragpaper owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to Gay people who they bilked.  The Gayragpaper was sued separately by both prominent Stonewall veteran Williamson Henderson and the legendary STONEWALL Veterans' Association.  As a matter of record, the Court decided that Williamson is so prominent, oddly proven by endless public officials' letters to the S.V.A. and typically addressed to Williamson Henderson yet provided as exhibits by the Gayragpaper that WLH is a "public figure"!  Moreover, the Court concluded likening Williamson as the "Gay Rosa Parks"!  What a historic compliment!  Who lost that case?  Not Williamson! Furthermore, the Stonewall veterans were historically compared to The Suffragettes!  Who lost that case?  Not the STONEWALL Veterans!  (Remember, the Gayragpaper was the defendant.)

Thanks to all of the people, media, businesses and organizations who have advised the S.V.A. of Druncan O's recent poisonous barage during "Stonewall 40" -- intended as a time of pride -- with his latest efforts and the Gayrapgpaer's wink at hate and slander and libel.  You know what that means!  After all, under a different name yet the same cast of creeps, they have been sued prior for these exact  offenses,

Thursday, July 16 (eve) -- CHELSEA ABSTRACT ART SHOW at HOTEL CHELSEA

Susan Olmetti -- the abstract artist -- personally hosts this art show.  The event is entitled "Superior Room Service and Fabulous Dreams Art Show".  Part of the festivities include a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion.  As a special Stonewall treat, legendary Stonewall veteran and velvety-voiced Storme DeLarverie will be singing a signature song from his cabaret years and a tribute to the Stonewall Renbellion:  "Stormy Weather"!  Exhibition hangs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  If the weather is dry, look for the "Stonewall Car" outfront and guarded by AnDre C!  For more art show 411, please visit:  www.SusanOlmetti.com.

Thursday, July 16 (day) -- NYC COUNCILMEMBER SUPPERS with the S.V.A.

The early supper group renewal and private strategy meeting between a NYC Councilmember and a few reps of the S.V.A., including Williamson Henderson and Rogers Hunt, convenes at the Gee Whiz Diner in Tribeca at 295 Greenwich Street (between Chambers Street and Warren Street) @ 4 p.m.  To reserve your place at the table, if you are on the S.V.A. Cuomo to drop in?  You bet!

Monday, July 13 -- THE VILLAGER (NEWSPAPER) REPORTS on S.V.A. STREETFAIR HEARINGS

The Villager (named after its base geography of Greenwich Village) local newspaper, owned by John W. Sutter and his Community Media, which also has the Gayragpaper under its umbrella, is suddenly and, once again, supposedly interested in the legendary STONEWALL Veterans' Association of the Stonewall Rebellion!  Unfortunately, three of the people that they allegedly quote all deny the "quotes"! Let's see if the local paper can up its accuracy and the facts for its follow-up stories?  Queerly, The Villager was not interested in the S.V.A. or its members, collectively or individually, during the entire Gay Pride Month particularly on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion which, ironically, started in base eommunity of Greenwich Village!

Sunday, July 12 -- S.V.A. SCORES A BANNER WEEK of WEBSITE VISITS

There were 300,00 verified visits to the S.V.A. website for the first post-Gay Pride Week.  This is terrific news for Gay education of more people around the World about everything Stonewall in addition to increasing the promotion of our business and political advertisers.

Saturday, July 11, 2009 -- 40th ANNIVERSARY of the STONEWALL VETERANS' ASSOCIATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gay-ly, it does not feel like forty years.  The greatest difference is the increase of so many democratic rights and needed protections for Gay people and the loss of so many of our original Stonewallers mostly due to the AIDS War.  This is also the 40th anniversary of the 1969 "Stonewall Car".

Saturday, July 11 -- BROADWAY CARES PRESENTS "BROADWAY BARKS & MEOWS"Broadway Barks And Meows

Thursday, July 9 -- STREET ACTIVITY COMMITTEE HEARING for STONEWALL V.A. STREETFAIR

This is the third such questioning this year for simply the renewal of the annual Stonewall Streetfair at the same l
