STONEWALL Veterans' Association: 'Go Fund Us'!
As The Beatles's number one song message clearly conveys: "H.E.L.P." -- we need some bodies!
There are many reasons why you should "H-E-L-P" the non-profit STONEWALL Rebellion
Veterans Association ("S.V.A.") during this extremely difficult health sickening and killer epidemic!
There are obvious dire economic consequences it has caused for educatational non-profit groups!
The Gay boys and the Gay girls and their bisexual and straight pals at the original STONEWALL
Club started the brave resistance and the historic uprising! The rented store did not ignite it!
Therefore, the most important is preserving the real history of the actual participants in the
launching of the modern G.L.B.T. rights movement known as the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion!
In other words, respect and support the people as represented exclusively for a half-century
by the voluntary, non-profit National STONEWALL Rebellion Veterans Association --
not the rented, self-serving, for-profit, tourist trap, non-Gay owned "Stonewall" storefront
which shamefuilly and selfishly has failed to provide any support or relief to the S.V.A.!
The 'Go Fund Us' site includes a rarified slideshow of fascinating vintage photographs of
members of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association, all of whom were victims of the
anti-Gay New York City Police Department raids on the original STONEWALL Club or the
historic five-night 1969 Stonewall Rebellion! As an authentic treat, you will hear background
music of a #1 girl group song from the original STONEWALL Bar & Dance Club Jukebox!

1969 Note: "Don't Play That Song"! Which songs did
the Mafia owners ban from The Stonewall?
"Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies (#1 song everywhere else
that it was played). Their reaction to this song was
way too bubble-gum and it would 'drive them crazier'! Also, the mindless "Dizzy" song by Tommy Roe (a #1 hit everywhere else).
The owners and patrons regarded this as too repetitive and truly childish.
Actually, the Gay patrons agreed! The third 'don't play
that song' was the odd "In The Year 2525", a verbalization in
a
weird way rather than sung and the message was definitely
bizarre and very "86"!
1969 Note: Which song did the Gay patrons ban from The STONEWALL Club jukebox? "What Is A Man" by The Four Tops (a very non-Motown song; a bomb everywhere, even R&B). And, the title? Ugh! You can imagine how this "Man" titled song went over with the fem boys and the lesbians and the dykes! And how about the drag queens? Oh-no! All of this is self-explanatory as to why it did not fit at the Gay STONEWALL Club or any G.L.B.T. place! All the other Four Tops songs were hits!

Songstress Tribute:
Lesley Gore
Lesley Sue Gore, born in Brooklyn, NYC, raised in Tenafly, NJ, and died in Manhattan, NY, was only 17 years young when she had her #1 international hit song "It's My Party". It was produced by the now legendary Quincy Jones. Other hits of Lesley include the following: "Judy's Turn To Cry" (#5), "She's A Fool" (#4), "That's The Way Boys Are", "Maybe I Know", "Hey, Now", "(Isn't That) The Look Of Love", "Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows", "My Town, My Guy And Me" and "California Nights" (also a hit at the original Stonewall Club in 1967). Lesley's most unique and significant hit is her song "You Don't Own Me". It was not a pop dance song yet was #1 nonetheless. "YDOM" evolved as a feminist anthem for five decades and continues as such! It was later featured in the hit movie "First Wives Club" (1996). Lesley's first dozen single-release records were produced by Quincy Jones as were most of her album songs. Because of her pop, girl group and soul combo in sound, Lesley was hired by Berry Gordy and signed to Motown Records in 1972! Besides Emmy award nominations, Lesley was nominated for an Oscar for co-writing "Out Here On My Own" from 1980's "Fame". Lesley was portrayed in the Broadway musical "Leader Of The Pack" (1985). Not only was Lesley a singer, a songwriter and a musican (piano) but she was an actress. Lesley starred on Broadway in the acclaimed "Smokey Joe's Cafe" in the late 1990s. Lesley's flipside single hits include "Sometimes I Wish I Were A Boy", double entendre, and the Carole King-penned "(Oh, How I Miss) The Old Crowd", a bouncy song spiced with nostalgia about friends who miss each other, a fitting tribute to Lesley! Besides her supportive mother and musical brother, and many friends, Lesley is survived by her Gay girlfriend of 33 years Lois Sasson! Lesley shall live forever through her memorable music!
