symbolic ad has lavender-colored stones in the background creating a colorful "stone
wall". This month's ad states our S.V.A. holiday message originated decades ago by
Williamson: "Have a Gay Christmas!" FYI, the S.V.A. runs an ad in the
Blade the week before the S.V.A.'s
monthly meeting.

Monday, December 17 -- BROADWAY
CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS PRESENTS "GYPSY-OF-THE-YEAR" COMPETITION
SHOW
Professionally described as
"...possibly the season's most dazzling talent show", the Gypsy-of-the-Year competition
spectacular show features New York's most talented "gypsies" (chorus members from
Broadway and Off-Broadway shows) in a competitive variety show. The Broadway Cares
event is the culmination of fund-raising during which shows On- and Off-Broadway --
including national tours -- engage in a fiercely friendly competition to see which show
can raise the most donations to BC/EFA. Awards are presented to the shows
raising the most funds and the shows giving the most impressive 'live'
performances.
BC/EFA's Executive Director
Tom Viola is the seasoned producer of
the exciting show. Williamson Henderson
heads up the attending S.V.A. contingency. The 19th annual
"Gypsy-of-the-Year" show benefiting BC/EFA happens on Monday, December 17, 2007
@ 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday, December 18, 2007 @ 2 p.m. "GOTY" is held at

www.BCEFA.org.
Sunday, December 9 -- GAY POLITICAL
FUNERAL for BOB
KOHLER
The symbolic service for the
legendary Bob Kohler happens at the Gay
Community Center on West 13th Street Avenue in Greenwich Village. Bi the
way, Bob despised that alphabet soup GLBTIQ non-sense. He sensibly stated that
"one community should have one name not five"! The shindig starts @ 4 p.m.
Immediately after, there is a march down Gay Christopher Street to the Hudson River
Piers. For more 411, visit www.GayCenter.org.
Wednesday, December 5 -- GAY ACTIVIST BOB KOHLER DIES at 81
Bob Kohler was a longtime activist
and friend of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association. He never missed an S.V.A.
symposium or forum; he usually sat in the front row! Bob did not always agree
with our broad outreach and methodologies. However, he was supportive and
complimentary. Bob was the handome gentleman with the full head of hair and the crystal blue eyes.
Recently, on a Saturday afternoon during Indian Summer, S.V.A. President
Williamson Henderson and Bob had one of their
sit-down talks in a triangular rest area on Hudson Street in Greenwich Village.
Every month, Bob received a personal invitation phone call from the S.V.A.'s Terri Van Dyke, Dave West, Electra
O'Mara or Bert Coffman to attend the
next S.V.A. meeting. He appreciated
that thoughtfulness.
Bob never forgot that 13 years earlier when he had a near-fatal heart attack during
Gay Pride Month in 1994, it was Williamson who set aside time amidst all of the
"Stonewall 25" demands and activities to visit him in the hospital. Most everyone
else was "too busy". That was the only year Bob couldn't participate in Gay
Pride. Bob was a genuine and effective Gay activist who earned the right to be
remembered!
Monday, December 3, 2007 -- COMMUNITY
BOARD HEARING REGARDING STREETFAIRS
This is an annual review of the streetfairs
which happen in the Greenwich Village area. All streetfair sponsors require an
annual "street activity permit". It is conducted by New York City's Community Board

Passanante. Testifying -- and providing unique historical 411 -- on behalf
of the S.V.A. is its founder and president Williamson
Henderson, who is also a longtime "Village" resident since 1969.
The S.V.A. is the one organization whose history, activities and members have
netted millions of dollars for the City of New York and on an annual basis!
Other Gay groups testifying why they need their streetfair monies are SDC,
GLID and LCR. Todd Berman of Clearview
Productions, the city's largest streetfair promoter, delivers the general economic and
social advantages of community streetfairs to the city, the public and the sponsoring
groups. The hearings happen at New York University's Goddard Hall at 79 Washington
Square East in the East Village. Streetfair testimonies start @ 6:45 p.m.
Attending SVA-ers may join Todd and Williamson after the CB-2 hearings
for cheddar cheeseburgers, onion rings and milk shakes at Johnny Rockets Diner
at 42 East 8th Street in Greenwich Village.
Thursday, November 29 -- "VISIT
SWEDEN" PARTY TO PROMOTE GAY TOURISM
The officers of the S.V.A. has been personally invited to attend a kick-off

some original "Songs of The Stonewall (1966 - 1969)". Party location is at The
Ritz Lounge on Restaurant Row on West 46th Street near Ninth Avenue in Clinton.
The European hors d'oeuvres start serving and the Gay cocktails start pouring @ 6

OUR TERMS"
This significant national feminist conference commemorates the
30th anniversary of the National Women's Conference in Houston, Texas, which was headed

later, the torch is passed to Bella's gay daughter Liz J. Abzug to do
the heading up! There will be many special guests attending and/or speaking at
this conference. Workshops such as "Smashing The Glass Ceiling" and "The Politics
of Gender and Sexuality" are part of the weekend's events. Both days begin
the activities with registration @ 9:30 a.m. On Saturday evening is the all

It includes a weblink to BALI.
Tuesday, November 6 -- "STONEWALL
PHOTOGRAPHER" FRED W. McDARRAH DIES @ 81
Symbolically known as the "Stonewall Photographer", the
fact is that Fred
McDarrah did not take any photos during any of the five nights of
the Stonewall Rebellion in 1969. If Fred was there and had
he -- or anyone else --
attempted such, his camera would have been smashed and, likewise, the
shutterbug!
Photos during the Gay rebellion, where closeted Gays did not
want to be seen, were forbidden. Mr. McDarrah, who worked at
The
Village Voice up the block, had some unknown people pose
unimposedly with
smiley faces and do so safely subsequent to the rebellion
when The
Stonewall Inn was closed. Even that is clear from the photo.
This was the week (now July) before the
club reopened. The strangers in
the photo were not at the rebellion. No one could identify anyone
in the staged
photo. It is doubtful that any were ever at The Stonewall.
Mr. McDarrah died in his sleep at his home in Greenwich
Village only hours after his 81st birthday. Ironically,
a popular song at
The Stonewall was called "Do The 81".
Wednesday, October 31 -- 34th ANNUAL GREENWICH
VILLAGE HALLOWEEN PARADE
The frighttime/nighttime parade

televises the parade 'live' on local Channel 1 in NYC as of 8 p.m. until
10 p.m. For much more and colorful 411 and past pix, visit: www.Halloween-NYC.com.

Center and start @ 4:15 p.m.
Tuesday, October 16 -- ELLA LEGGETTE,
FRIEND of S.V.A., DIES at 49
Cecile "Ella" Leggette (49) was a longtime
and active lovely friend of the S.V.A. She bravely dealt with a long, on/off,
semi-rare disease known as sarcoidosis. Since "Stonewall 25" on stage in Central
Park in 1994, Miss Ella, as she is popularly known, never missed a "Stonewall
Showtime" starring her special friend Queen
Allyson. She looked forward to gussying up for such entertaining
theatrical events. Ella is survived by her daughters Sharonella Leggette (33) and Natasha Singleton (27) as well as four young grandchildren
(two from each) namely Starquesha (16)
and Marquis (10) and Kiera (8) and Ninaloni (4). Ella is outlived by her
14-year-old cat Luv Bug and her
13-year live-in companion Amir Qaharr,
currently of the S.V.A. Miss Ella is dearly missed by all who knew her.
There will be a special tribute dinner to Ella about the time of her
would-be 50th birthday on the 2nd of May 2008 sponsored by the S.V.A. For
more about that, contact an Ella favorite, AnDre
C., at (212) 6-27-1969.

Saturday, September 29 (eve) -- "PARADE WITHOUT PERMIT" PROTEST MARCH
The unauthorized but well-planned march sponsored by the Radical
Homosexual Agenda ("RHA") gathers at Tompkins Square Park after 6 p.m. amd kicks
off @ 7 p.m. It is planned to have the famous "Stonewall Car" -- well-known to the
NYCPD -- symbolically leading the protest march. One of the protest issues is the
unnecessary new law that any gathering of 50 or more people need a "parade permit"!?
What is this pre-Stonewall 1968? Shame on the City Council Speaker for
supporting such undemocratic trash! For further 411, e-mail the RHA's chief
coordinator Tim Doody at Query@RiseUp.net.
S.V.A. Editor's Note: What an absolutely treble busy day for
the S.V.A. It's like deja vu 1969!
Saturday, September 29 (afternoon) -- MONTHLY MEETING of the S.V.A. at THE
CENTER
Main discussion is the forthcoming S.V.A. Gay History Month party and S.V.A. benefit
at The Stonewall Inn on October 10th. The S.V.A. will have a full-page
advertisemebt for that event in the New York Blade. Although today is the S.V.A.'s
annual streetfair, the regular monthly meeting of the S.V.A. is held at the Gay Community
Center @ 4:15 p.m.
Saturday, September 29 (day) -- STONEWALL STREETFAIR in GREENWICH
VILLAGE
The
annual Stonewall streetfair sponsored by the STONEWALL Veterans' Associatioin ("S.V.A.")
takes place in Greenwich Village on the 29th -- the same day as the S.V.A. meeting.
U can come to both!! PRIDE Democrats and other GLBT organizations -- besides
the S.V.A. -- have informational tables staffed by their members. The S.V.A. tables
are also set up for homemade food such as fried chicken, macaroni salad and cole
slaw plus for dessert... BBM cherry cake -- all by Dora Deelite.
Trust us, the food dishes are only
provided to good-standing members of the S.V.A. On display only at this
streetfair is the famous 1969 "Stonewall Car" convertible. It's real
eye-candy for the cameras. The same yearly location is on Greenwich Avenue from
Seventh Avenue (near St. Vincent's Hospital) to Avenue of the Americas. The
streetfair spans several blocks also including Perry Street, Charles Street, West
10th Street and Christopher Street. This free event is open to the general public.
Opening time is @ 10 a.m. and closing is @ 6 p.m. For display or
technical 411, call Madam DiBella at
Clearview Streetfair Festivals at (646) 230-0668 or visit www.ClearviewFestival.com.
Tuesday, September 25 -- LIZ ABZUG, S.V.A. HONORARY MEMBER, HONORED
with GAY AWARD
Liz Abzug is being honored with her longtime advocacy of
and work for the Gay community. The appropriate Gay women's venue is Henrietta
Hudson Lounge at 438 (Baby Jane) Hudson Street. The bar is located at the
corner of Morton Street and near Barrow Street in Greenwich Village.
Weather-permitting, the famous 1969 "Stonewall Car" -- more than once habitted by
Liz's parents -- will be on display. The fun
begins 6 p.m.
Sunday, September 23 -- S.V.A. and
the RADICAL HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA
For the planning of their protest march on Saturday, September 29th,
their special guests today are logically members of the STONEWALL Veterans' Association.
There is no question that the S.V.A. has experience with "protests". The
Radical Homosexual Agenda ("RHA") also invited the S.V.A. today to plan protest
strategies and make arrangements for the protest march to feature the big blue
classic convertible known as the "Stonewall Car". Williamson Henderson of the S.V.A. originated the symbolic
and visible Stonewall history idea. It was quickly embraced by both
groups united in Gay respect and Gay rights cause. One of the
RHA's popular banners cleverly states: "The Stonewall Veterans didn't ask for
a parade permit!" Today's representation for the S.V.A. is headed up by
Bert Coffman. Meeting location is at Bike
Space, 49 East Houston Street in the East Village @ 4 p.m. For more 411, you
may e-mail the RHA at: WeWantYou@RiseUp.net.
Sunday, September 23 (day) -- BROADWAY CARES / EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS SPONSORS its 20th FLEA
MARKET
This popular event is a fun-filled
benefit for BC/EFA. Besides the wonderful Broadway-themed flea market, there is a
grand auction and a special Broadway-oriented streetfair. Many stars of Broadway,
off-Broadway, daytime television and dance will be participating. In fact, most
will be available for picture-taking and autograph-signing in reasonable exchange for a
worthwhile donation to BC/EFA. The events happen in Shubert Alley and on West 44th
Street from Broadway to Eighth Avenue in midtown Manhattan. Many members of the
S.V.A. are attending. BC/EFA's Flea Market is directed by dexterous Tom Viola. The excitement is all day from 10 a.m.
to 7 p.m. Williamson Henderson leads the
enthusiastic S.V.A. contingency. For further 411, please visit the
fascinating Broadway Cares website at www.BCEFA.org.
Thursday, September 20 -- MEETING at GOVERNOR SPITZER'S OFFICE w/
S.V.A.
This is what one would refer to as another full circle in our longtime relationship with
Eliot L. Spitzer -- prior to his being in public
office. Which Gay group did he first meet with? No, not them! They were
very "Johnny and Janey come lately -- and hungry". The unequivocal answer is the
STONEWALL Veterans' Association. The meeting is at the Gov's office on Third
Avenue @ 3 p.m.
Tuesday, September 18 -- FORUM
with NYS LIEUT. GOV. DAVID A. PATERSON
Former New York State Senator and current N.Y.S. Lieutenant Governor David A. Paterson is a fervent supporter of the STONEWALL
Veterans' Association. We always look forward to seeing him and chatting up in
person. This event is sponsored by the Democratic Leadership in the 21st Century
("DL-21C") organization. The seminar is supported by the S.V.A.
Confirmed SVA-ers include Williamson
Henderson, Bob Diamond, Gregg
Castillo and Ruth Campbell. The
hostess with the mostest is DL-21C's delightful president Elizabeth Caputo. Event location is the accommodating
Retreat Lounge at 37 West 17 Street off Fifth Avenue in Chelsea. For more 411,
visit www.DL21C.org.
Monday, September 17 -- S.V.A.

This long-pending meeting finds the S.V.A. traveling by subway and boat to Staten
Island. Williamson Henderson and
Bert Coffman repesent the S.V.A. with
Assemblymember Matt Titone and his Chief of Staff
Keith. The meeting is scheduled @ 3 p.m. --
give or take a ferry.
Sunday, September 16 -- COLUMBUS
AVENUE STREETFAIR
This streetfair is one of the biggest in the City for 16 blocks along
Columbus Avenue from West 69th Street to West 86 Street. The S.V.A. joins DL-21C
and PRIDE Democrats in having informational tables at this streetfair. The all day
event is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, "September 11th" -- 6-YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the HATEFUL ATTACKS on
AMERICA
This is
the exact day and date on a Tuesday the 11th of September of the four (4) attacks on
America -- chiefly aimed at the commercial and civilian borough of Manhattan,
New York, in addition to Washington, D.C., and, alas, Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The four airliner flights hijacked and tragically doomed were American
Airlines flight #11, United Airlines #175, American Airlines #77 amd United Airlines #
93. To commemorate this absolute worst day in American history, the STONEWALL
Veterans' Association is completely closed. We encourage everyone to
remember the victims -- killed or injured -- and participate in their
reflection at the memorials at the scenes or other tributes or via expansive
television and radio coverage of the day's events.
The S.V.A. is totally closed to commemorate the saddest occasion in American history
and to remember the approximate 3,000 victims murdered at four locations on
September 11th, 2001, and the continuing rescuer victims who die from health-related
conditions at the devastated World Trade Center site in New York City after the cowardly
and despicable attacks on the magnificent Twin Towers.
The Twin Towers Alliance (TTA) has created an outstanding and unforgettable collage
video entitled
"Tribute to The Twin Towers (1971 to 2001)" at: www.U-tube.com/watch/TwinTowersTribute.
Wednesday, September 5 -- DEMOCRATIC
LEADERSHIP-21-C PARTY (PART DAUX)
Sunday, September 2, 2007 -- LABOR DAY WEEKEND CARAVAN to LONG BEACH, L.I.
The blue classic Cadillac convertible leads the car caravan to
its original homeport of Long Beach by the ocean on the South Shore of Long Island.
Launching location is in front of the Gay Center in Manhattan. Rumor has
it that the caravan is being met in Long Beach by the S.V.A. Assistant of a quarter
of a century ago: Donald Ray Williams.
For details about the caravan -- not the Donald -- call the S.V.A. Assistant
of this century: AnDre C at

Saturday, August 25 -- S.V.A. MONTHLY
MEETING
Williamson Henderson presides and provides a
round-up of this month's news with many GLBT organizations and public
officials vis-a-vis the S.V.A. Today's agenda includes Betty Bristol's prior S.V.A. meeting 'minutes' to be
accepted. And, allegedly, Berti
Coffman's promised (don't count on
it) monthly Treasurer's Retort. Bob Diamond
reports on recent S.V.A. meetings with NYC and NYS policymakers. Greg Castillo updates on S.V.A. sponsor Brooklyn Historic
Railway Association and the revived trolley project in Brooklyn. One
new item of business is the planned New York State Museum tribute exhibit to
Gay history highlighting the epical 1969 "Stonewall Rebellion". Storme D referees discussions about the S.V.A.'s
October 10th Party ("10/10") at The Stonewall Inn. Shelly Vanslette
chairs suggestions regarding 10/10 advertising, mailings, flyers and, this
time, promotion by the club with two newspaper ads and posters at the club.
The guest speaker is Roger
Sirangelo representing the international Kiwanis Club, whose main
purpose is to "serve the children of the world". Kiwanians are revitalizing
neighborhoods, participating in health initiatives, establishing food pantries,
organizing youth sports programs and performing countless other projects to help children
and communities. The proposal here is opening a Kiwanis chapter in Greenwich
Village! The S.V.A. suppports this potential partnership. On display out
front of The Center
is the blue
1969 Stonewall convertible.
Quality
desserts by Dora and refreshments by
Ruthala are specially provided for this
summertime get-together. Meeting ignites @ 4:15 p.m. and simmers @
about 6 p.m. S.V.A. meetings are at the GLBT Center on West 13th Street off
Seventh Avenue. For more 411 or suggestions, please call AnDre C at (212) 6-27-1969.
Friday, August 17 -- NYS ASSEMBLYMEMBER BRIAN KAVANAGH MEETS with S.V.A.
New York State Assemblymember Brian
Kavanagh and his Chief-of-Staff Mary
Cooley host the S.V.A. representatives Williamson
Henderson and Bert Coffman. The
meeting is @ 3 p.m. at the Assemblymember's district office at 237 First Avenue with the
building entrance on East 14th Street -- just inside the border of the East
Village.
Thursday, August 16 -- MANHATTAN BOROUGH PRESIDENT SCOTT STRINGER MEETS with
S.V.A. OFFICIALS
Manhattan Borough President Scott
Stringer outreached to the S.V.A. at a recent
DL-21C event. The MBP's office called the very next day and scheduled
the overdue meeting with the S.V.A. On the agenda is the appropriate
sponsorship of the S.V.A. in the tradition of his predecessor. The Borough
President understands the importance of the S.V.A. and its history and on-going work.
Confirmed to attend from the S.V.A. are President Williamson Henderson, Treasurer Bert Coffman and Assistant AnDre Christie.
Besides the MBP, he will have several staff members in attendance. The
meeting is in the MBP's conference room at the Manhattan Municipal Building on the
19th floor @ 3 p.m.
Wednesday, August 15 -- MAYOR BLOOMBERG'S RECEPTION for DISABILITIES HONORS
AWARDS
Mayor Michael Bloomberg has
long been one of the S.V.A.'s favorite hosts. Besides the formalities and awards,
there will be a big outdoor barbeque and festive music. S.V.A.'s
posilute representatives include Williamson
Henderson, Bert Coffman, Bob Diamond, Elaine
and Cece. This private invitation affair is
at Ed Koch's and Rudy's old house (Gracie Mansion) from 5:30 p.m. to 7
p.m.
Tuesday, August 14 -- S.V.A. HEADS INVITED to PRIVATE PARTY for POLITICAL
CANDIDATE
Candidate "X" -- whose New York City candidacy is
for 2009 -- will be present for the entire evening. The location is an
attractive and fun Irish tavern in midtown Manhattan. "This is not a meeting;
it's a party!" Based on the hot, humid amd hazy weather reports, it sounds
like a perfect evening to be inside with air-conditioning and friends -- and greentinis
(or the flavor of your choice). If you are an S.V.A. official or staffer wishing to
join our secret rendezvous, contact Williamson and/or AnDre for more 411. Bert C, Betty B and
Bob D have already confirmed -- and the five
mentioned just cover the "B"s (if you catch our drift)! The cash
bar party commences @ 7 p.m. and climaxes at about 10 p.m.
Thursday, August 9, 2007 -- S.V.A.
CONFERENCE at NYC COMPTROLLER BILL THOMPSON'S OFFICE
When N.Y.C. Comptroller Bill
Thompson greeted the Stonewallers leading the Gay Pride Parade in Brooklyn,
he promised after all these years to finally have a formal sitdown with the S.V.A.
This long overdue meeting is absent the troublethreesome Gay operatives on the
Comptroller's staff. Representing the S.V.A. (on this sweltering day) are
Williamson Henderson, Bert Coffman and Bob
Diamond. The meeting occurs in the historic (and humongous) conference
room of the Comptroller's offices on the fifth floor of the Manhattan Municipal
Building at 1 Centre Street @ 3 p.m.
Post-Event Note: Unfortunately, not only was the
Comptroller not at the meeting but he did not even stick his head in the room.
Nothing that the S.V.A. requested or suggested was ever acted upon -- not even
a cost-free letter though that was also falsely promised. So,
"Mr. Bill" still did not keep his
responsibility as a public official nor his personal promise which makes him
a............!
Tuesday, July 31 --
DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP 21st CENTURY (DL-21C)

DL-21C President Elizabeth Caputo. As a special muusical treat, there is live entertainment with the popular and pleasing band The Bluetones -- which features the same Dave Pollak on guitar! The
party location is The Iguana at 240 West 54th Street between Broadway and
Eighth Avenue. It parties up @ 8 p.m. and percolates well into the night.

Saturday, July
28 -- S.V.A. MONTHLY
MEETING at THE GAY CENTER
There will be a continuation of discussing the recent N.Y.C.
Gay Pride events in June that involved the S.V.A.
The chief topic at this
meeting is the S.V.A. Gay History Month party at The Stonewall on "10/10".
This time we are planning further ahead -- and more! In addition to several
SW-Vetz at this meeting, there will be several special attendees. On display out
front of the Gay Center is the blue 1969 "Stonewall Car". The S.V.A.
meeting begins @ 4:15 p.m. sharp.
The special guest speaker is the wonderful, supportive and caring Congressmember Carolyn B.
Maloney, whose big 14th Congressional District includes almost the
entire East Side of Manhattan and, crossing the East River, several towns in Queens
County such as Sunnyside, Astoria and Woodside.
Monday,
July 23 -- BBQ and PARTY with

venue overlooking the Hudson River on the
West Side of Manhattan. Williamson Henderson and AnDre Christie -- the two who ELS knows best -- are
representing the S.V.A. The invitation-only event is anchored from 6 to 8
p.m. For more 411, visit the website www.Spitzer2010.com.

traveling in he 1969 "Stonewall Car" which Jed loved -- and drove -- to visit his resting
site in Brooklyn.
Friday, July 20 -- COUNCILMEMBER JAMES
"JED" DAVIS ANNUAL TRIBUTE
Besides being an active, multi-dimensional and comprehensive New York City Councilmember
mostly from Brooklyn, the much-missed James E.
"Jed" Davis was a hands-on Honorary Member of the S.V.A. His
outgoing, energetic and smiling zest for life was appealing, inspiring and unusual.
Jed is one of those unforgettable people who are irreplaceable. The
tribute event is hosted by Jed's beloved brother Geoffrey A. Davis. Among the speakers are the
S.V.A.'s President and Jed's special friend Williamson Henderson.
The JED tribute at City Hall in Council Chambers commences @ 11 a.m. and concludes
@ 1 p.m. followed by a brunch buffet. For more info, please telephone the
James E. Davis Stop-the-Violence Foundation in Brooklyn at (718) 221-2913. The
JEDSF's fax number is (718) 221-2911. The Councilmember is very much missed.
Tuesday, July 17 -- STONEWALL DINNER in
BROOKLYN
After a significant and exciting afternoon in Manhattan regarding various important
S.V.A. matters, Liz Abzug, Williamson and AnDre
Christie drove to Brooklyn to rendezvous with the S.V.A.'s reporter Vito Abzuzzoluccione
for a dishy and pricey outdoor Italian dinner! We later joined up with.... Shari Clemons!
Saturday, July 14 -- BROADWAY CARES PRESENTS: "BROADWAY BARKS (AND

AIDS victims, their best friend -- if not only friend -- is their dog or cat.

Christie, Elia Luciano and
Lamarr Marley. Location of the
adopt-a-thon is Shubert Alley off Broadway between West 44th and 45th Streets.

Thursday, July 12 -- THE RETURN OF WCBS-FM MUSIC RADIO
After virtually two radio-less years without
the renowned WCBS-FM playing classic Rock, Pop and Soul songs of the 1960s -- and 1970s
and 1980s -- the needless and needling nigtmare is so oooh-ver! The famous
WCBS-FM radio station, 101.1 on your dial, relaunched at precisely 1:01 p.m.
(EST). Appropriately and cleverly, the opening was effectively presented by former
New York City Mayor Ed Koch! He stated that "In politics and big business it's rare
that someone admits that they were wrong and even rarer to correct it.
WCBS has admitted that they made a very big mistake, they are sorry and they
have corrected it. Welcome back WCBS-FM radio's classic songs to New York!"
It wasn't long before we heard "Songs of The Stonewall". Ironically, it
started with the first song: "Do It Again" by The Beach Boys. The first
musical guest Frankie Valli -- a big Stonewall favorite -- was up next.
In Sopranos-style, he said that with the "oldies" back on WCBS, it's
safe for him to return to New Jersey! They played his #1 "Oh, What A Night".
Soon there were many SW-Songs -- and celebration message appropriate -- such
as "Remember, Walking In The Sand", "I Want U Back", "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing",
"More Today Than Yesterday", "Respect", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "I'll Say A
Little Prayer", "Summer In The City", "Dancing In The Street", "Strangers In The
Night", "My Boyfriend's Back", "Hot Fun In The Summertime", "A Brand New Me", "Come
Together", "Don't Mess With Bill", "Kiss Him Goodbye", "My Guy", "Standing In The Shadows
Of Love", "This Is My Song", "Happy Together", "Leader Of The Pack", "I Guess
I'll Always Love You", "People", "Satisfaction", "It's In His Kiss", "Kind Of A
Drag" and, of course, "Someday We'll Be Together", which was WCBS' theme song
while the classic pop songs were off the air. Look to hear about the "Songs of
The Stonewall" on WCBS-FM radio during the summer. Visit: www.WCBSFM.com.
Monday, July 9, 2007 -- S.V.A.

Miriam Ruiza. The Italian restaurant

Wednesday, July 4 --
INDEPENDENCE DAY
This is Independence Day for the United States of America (USA). It is
also Independence Day for the Gay American community! It was 38 years ago that
the historic Stonewall Rebellion completed on the night of July 3rd (Thursday). We
Gays then celebrated our independence -- but not freedom -- as a more-than-ever united
community the very next day, ironically on July 4th!
Tuesday, July 3 -- END of STONEWALL REBELLION in
1969
After five inconsecutive nights from Friday, June 27, to Thursday, July 3, 1969, the
historic Stonewall Rebellion concluded with great success 38 years ago tonight. For
a complete turn-around back then, the wrong-headed police lost; the rightful and
brave Gays won!
Sunday, July 1, 2007 -- S.V.A. WEBSITE
SCORES its BUSIEST WEEK
With one of the most exciting, great weather -- except June 27th with
two brief but busting black-outs in NYC -- and truly popular Gay Pride Weeks in awhile,
the S.V.A. website had over 205,000 verified visits from Monday, June 25 to Sunday, July
1, 2007. The record-breaking week included the busiest day of S.V.A. website
visits, symbolically occuring on "Stonewall Day". Congratz to the everlasting
legend of the one and only S.V.A. and the octopusial innovative leadership of
the one and only Williamson!
End of June 2007 -- BUSIEST MONTH for S.V.A.
WEBSITE
Nearly 800,000 visits to the S.V.A. website
from all around the world were electronically tallied and HTML-verified just for the
month of June. It is posilutely no coincidence that this occured during Gay
Pride Month -- an annual tradition when the S.V.A. website always breaks its prior
year Gay Pride Month record of "visits".
Saturday, June 30 -- S.V.A. ANNUAL GAY
PRIDE MEETING and STONEWALLERS REUNION
This year is unusual insofar as the last Saturday of June (30th) is
after the annual GLBT parade (24th). It was interesting to learn how many of the
seasoned "Stonewall Queens" -- Cristina, Brooke, China, et al. -- actually went to
the GLBT Center on the previous Saturday (23rd) thinking that the S.V.A.
must have a meeting prior to the parade?
No! Meeting ignites @ 4:30 p.m.
Today's main S.V.A. agenda topics include but are not limited
to:
* remembering irreplaceable Stonewall veterans who have died
* public re-launching of 1969 "Stonewall Car" (unseen 2 years)
* presenting Gay Pride letters from public officials and groups
* reviewing all of the 2007 Gay Pride events involving the S.V.A.
* members voting on 'the best' -- and 'the worst' -- GLBT event
* looking at the colorful pix from the many festivities and parades
* indadequate SW-Vetz parade cars unprovided by HOP (total: 0)
* S.V.A. Treasurer's monthly financial report by Biggi Berti Cough
* discussing the recent S.V.A. June 27th party at The Stonewall Inn
* hell-os provided by Mother Nature (thunderballs and blackouts)
* listing all of the items promised but not provided (mainly food)
* changes for next S.V.A. party Gay History Month on Oct. 10
* suggestions for the S.V.A. fun-/fund-raiser on Wed. "10/10"
* election (mid-year) only of the S.V.A. President
* SVA-ers reunion party, desserts and drinx after the meeting
Saturday, June 30 -- S.V.A. GETS FIRST LETTER from TOM
DUANE
Believe it or not, it is the first Gay Pride
letter that the S.V.A. ever received from openly-Gay state legislator Tom Duane since he was first elected to office in 1991.
The S.V.A. believes that "it's usually better late than never".
That's gayly the case here. Some elusive politicians would be
well-served to follow Mr. Duane's 'late' lead. Here are some excerpts
from Tom's personalized and prideful letter:
"I am writing to congratulate
and honor those who were at The Stonewall on
this evening's celebration
of the 38th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion.
As a 14-year-old growing up in
Queens, I was just barely aware of 'riots'
taking place in Greenwich
Village from June 27 to July 3, 1969. Yet as they
did countless other
GLBT people from that time forth, the brave actions
of
those in and around The Stonewall Inn on those five nights had
a
profound
influence of my (gay) sexuality, my coming out in 1972
and on my activism in the GLBT rights
movement."
Friday, June 29 -- N.Y.S.
GOVERNOR SPITZER'S PROCLAMATION to the S.V.A.
The actual -- and largest we've ever seen -- "Proclamation" from New
York's newie Governor Eliot L. Spitzer to the
STONEWALL Veterans' Association was received 'special delivery' today via FedEx.
One "Whereas...." statement by the Governor is the following:
"As our Gay communities comprised of family
members, friends, co-workers and neighbors
seek the rights and understanding each of us deserves, we join to celebrate the pride
they express every day through their strength and unity".
Gov. ELS's support of the S.V.A. dates back over a dozen years ago to late 1994 after the
Democratic Primary -- which non-politician candidate Eliot lost in fourth
place to the S.V.A.'s openly-Gay Corporate Counsel Karen Burstein. When
Eliot ran as an attorney general candidate again in 1998, it was S.V.A.'s Williamson
who literally introduced the virtually unknown Mr. Spitzer to much of the Gay
community including but not limited to the Gay Community Center, various GLBT
organizations including PRIDE Democrats and the S.V.A., the Garden Party, the GLBT
Democratic Primary Candidates' Forum (hosted by Williamson), etc..
Thursday, June 28 -- U.S.
SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON has S.V.A. COMMEMORATION LETTER DELIVERED to the
S.V.A.
Selected excerpts of Senator
Hillary's powerful and proud letter are printed here. The original letterhead
with the gold dome will be posted on Senator Hillary's page on the S.V.A.
website.
"I am delighted to have this opportunity to send greetings to each
of you celebrating the 38th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion with the
STONEWALL Veterans' Association.
I am confident that the educational, community-building and outreach programs that the
S.V.A. provides will continue to provide hope and opportunity for many individuals.
Congratulations on 38 outstanding years and please accept my best wishes for
a wonderful STONEWALL Veterans' Association event."

Wednesday, June 27, 2007
-- 38th ANNIVERSARY of the 1969
STONEWALL REBELLION: The ULTIMATE GAY HERITAGE and POSILUTE GAY
PRIDE EVENT of the
SEASON
Event Prologue:
The STONEWALL Veterans' Association ("S.V.A.") commemorates the 38th year of
the historic 1969 Gay Stonewall Rebellion and the anniversary of the S.V.A.
The organization celebrates with an anniversary party and fun/d-raiser at --
where else -- the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street! "June 27th" is the
most important date in Gay history! Yet, how many know it? In a
recent interview with Williamson Henderson
by a documentary film company, he once again proudly declared: "June 27th to the
Gay community is the equivalent of July 4th to the American colonies!" To
share original Gay pride, be with
the original Gay pride people at
the original Gay pride place. You
will also be treated to the original Gay
pride music.
S.V.A. Event 411:
The time of the three-hour "Stonewall" happening is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Attendees are welcomed to enter at any time after 6 p.m. (not
earlier) and prior to 9 p.m. (not later).
We
will have the Stonewall Club's newly-refurbished main floor and the upstairs
Cabaret Room with full-length bar and
stage!
Vintage "Songs of The
Stonewall" will be played by a disc jockey throughout the evening. Public
officials and organization heads will be paying their respects and singing the
Stonewall song "Respect". In turn, they will be presented
on stage and speak their Stonewall tribute. There will be
a catered buffet from several restaurants. Special Stonewall delicacy
desserts are home-made by Dora's Dee-lights. There will be an admissions and
sign-in table out front of the club. Meanwhile, look out for the S.V.A. promotional
mailings, faxes, e-mails throughout Gay Pride Month and an ad in the New York Blade News in its "Gay Pride" issue available in
newsboxes and at many businesses as of June
22nd.
Stonewall
Music:
Listen to hear the popular songs of the original Stonewall Club from
1966 to 1969 -- plus some perennial favorite songs from the Stonewall jukebox.
The first Stonewall song played must be "Remember (Walkin' In The Sand)"
by The Shangri-Las
featuring Mary
Weiss.
For Stonewall Vetz, the opening words are particularly haunting:
"Seems like the other day, my baby went away....", relating to The Stonewall
itself and all those memorable good Gay times. The emotionally stirring
"Remember" song was a homegrown New York City #1 hit, a perennial favorite
in the Stonewall jukebox and featured in the Cherry Grove scene
of the 1996 movie
"Stonewall".
Stonewall
Singers:
The artists you will enjoy hearing include, but are not limited to, the following:
Judy Garland, Frankie Valli, Diana Ross & The Supremes, (Sir) Sly & The Family
Stone, Barbra Streisand, Marvin
Gaye, The Shangri-Las featuring Mary Weiss, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Rolling

Special
